Basic Info
Name:mask_salesman
Bio
CHARACTER INFORMATION:

Name: Unknown.
Alias, if any: The Happy Mask Salesman, or variants of such.
Series: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask

Personality:
Personality is an elusive thing for the Mask Salesman, as there is the constant feeling that he is donning a mask – his moods flicker easily, from an almost frightening cheeriness delivered with a bright smile to an equally off-putting fury. It seems the smallest thing may set him off, though truly these are matters of great importance to the Mask Salesman, who likes everything to go perfectly according to plan and will throw quite a rage if it is not. He never seems to rest in the same place for too long, physically and mentally, and is constantly thinking and pondering on matters from how the world may end to what type of spread is best upon toast. At once, the Mask Salesman manages to seem both entirely invasive upon one’s personal space and rather detached.

‘Passionate’ would be a euphemism for his utter obsessive nature. Though it seems he may flick from subject to subject, everything is intrinsically connected – to the Mask Salesman at least – and nothing is trivial to him. In this sense, he is highly intelligent, and many years of travelling and studying and experiencing have mad him wise and knowledgeable, and he harbours a considerable amount of information which can seen as utterly useless in the eyes of others despite being surprisingly profound.

However, one constant of the Mask Salesman’s personality is that he practically oozes mysteriousness, for the fact that there is more to him that meets the eye is crystal clear. It’s just nigh on impossible to find what that is.

Appearance:

At first glance, the Mask Salesman likely conjures up one word or some synonym of it – “odd”. His walk is slow, laden with the enormous pack he carries on a back that looks much too frail to do so. Though only around 5’ 7” when standing straight, lugging around such a weight has left his knees bent, his shoulders hunched, and has subsequently made him appear rather smaller than this. Surprisingly, his form is quite spindly, and he hobbles around, his gait slow and filled with purpose.

His skin is a tone tanned by travelling, though does not seem quite healthy and is in fact, rather artificial looking. His features are finely carved, as though he too wears a mask, were it not for his expressiveness – though he is almost always seen with a bright and slightly intimidating smile plastered on his features. Glossy, chestnut coloured hair is neatly combed and never seen out of place, as though the Mask Salesman has truly started to resemble that which he collects. The bright colours of his garb only intensify this idea, the garish indigo offset by bright yellow gold. His shoes are pointed and curled at the toe, his clothes outlandish even to those of Hyrule.

His presence is equally mysterious, though it is clear that there is far more to him than would likely be expected.

Abilities:
Chiefly, the Mask Salesman is capable of using the masks he has created and collected for their magical purposes and other uses. Subsequently, he’s capable of quite a variety of things, from making himself invisible to making his head cause an explosion without any real damage done to him. Different masks, however, may only work in certain places and circumstances, therefore many are often simple items. Despite this, for all he carries around his vast collection, he is rarely actually seen wearing any of them – it seems almost as though he has absorbed their power, and no longer needs to put on certain masks. This makes him appear to be some form of magic user, when really, it all depends upon the masks he has near him.

The Mask Salesman’s method of creating masks is often by finding those who are suffering, trapped by some oppressive force – be it a curse, or psychological bonds, or even physical – which he can then remove, freeing them of their pain and giving it form. This is done by playing the Song of Healing, something that when done properly, at the right time, is magical.

He seems to posses some ability to read minds – the ability to see which mask each of us don. He excels at being cryptic with his comments, and confusing or aggravating them accordingly with his level of perception. Also, whilst it is never clear whether he uses magic or not, he has the rather startling ability to seemingly pop out of nowhere, and subsequently disappear.
